Help for Registered Food Businesses

Even establishments with some of the best food can sometimes get a low Food Hygiene Rating; and this is almost always due to lack of documented processes. We have tried and tested approaches to underpin the excellent food in your establishment.

Almost every year some of the most well-known food establishments can find themselves embarassed by an Environmental Health inspection that leaves them with a level 1 or even zero food hygiene rating and this can lead to hundreds if not thousands of pounds of lost business until the rating is restored and the downturn becomes a distant memory.  It also means you are much more likely to have future unannounced inspections, as Environmental Health apply their resources more frequently to where there has been a problem than businesses with consistently high standards.

In almost every high profile case the cause has not been down to the cooking itself but due to lack of properly documented processes and sometimes poor staff training normally resulting in a low "confidence in management" sub-rating even where other sub-ratings are good.

At our own hospitality business we have held a level 5 food hygiene rating for our entire period of operation with high "confidence in management" sub-rating.  We hold level three qualifications in supervising food safety and have developed a tried and tested set of documented processes to underpin the day to day operations including comprehensive (but quick and easy to implement) training practices for new staff and refreshers for established staff.

This creates a framework that you as business owner can be confident in and although of course your Head Chef needs to be part of the process, it can leave them to worry about creating their next culinary delight instead of the paperwork.

So if you are a new business starting out or a business that has just received a low rating and needs to get some documentated processes in place quickly and ahead of the EHO's return visit, let us come and help you out with a no-obligation visit to show you how we can help.
